Beth Tweddle is Britain’s greatest ever female gymnast. Beth has inspired young people to take up gymnastics, one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. In 2010, Beth received an MBE for her success, commitment and dedication to gymnastics.
Beth’s love of gymnastics started aged 7. In her long career she was crowned World Champion three times, European Champion six times, a Commonwealth champion and is seven times National Champion. Beth’s stunning medal success culminated with her winning Britain’s first ever Olympic medal in individual women’s gymnastics at the London Olympics in 2012.
Beth put the amazing achievements of British athletes at the London Games down to the National Lottery cash that has been pumped into their sports. Beth herself received Lottery funding throughout her career; allowing her to train full time, and to get the best coaching, medical and nutritional advice.
Beth continues to be very much involved with her beloved sport as a director and ambassador of Total Gymnastics. Beth and fellow Olympian, Steve Parry, set up the company to give as many children as possible the chance to take up gymnastics, within schools, leisure centres and gymnastics clubs around the country.
